4 Year Academic Plan

Freshmen Year

  • Maintain a high GPA

    • College coaches don't want to see anything below a 75 on your high school transcript and the grades you make as a Freshmen can come back to haunt you as a Senior.

  • Pass all portions of the STAAR Test

    • We strive to have a 100% passer rating on the STAAR Test as a program.

    • Attend tutorials if need be.

Sophomore Year

  • Maintain a high GPA

  • Pass all portions of the STAAR Test

  • Participate in the PSAT Test

    • This test serves as a great tool to help your student athlete become familiar with the set up and feel and of the SAT and ACT.

    • Check with counselor to obtain scores and possible tutorials.

Junior Year

  • Maintain a high GPA

  • Pass all portions of the STARR Test (This is your exit level STAAR Test; a failing score will result in a retake and could hinder a student/athlete from graduating on time).

  • Participate in the SAT and/or ACT Test

    • The better you do on these tests the more opportunities you create for yourself.

    • You must take these tests in your junior year in order to give yourself an ample amount of time to prepare and retake to raise your score if necessary. (Study links and test dates are listed below)

  • Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center (if you haven't already!)

    • Any student athlete with the desire to play basketball at the NCAA is required to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center, no exceptions. Click Here for More Information

    • Notify counselor about registration

Senior Year

  • Maintain a high GPA

  • File a FAFSA (Financial Aid) Form HERE

    • File this form as soon as you get done filing your taxes in the spring of your student athlete's senior year.

    • The sooner the better, that money is first come, first serve.

  • Retake and pass any portion of the STAAR Test that you did not pass your junior year.

  • Apply for all possible scholarships you are eligible for.

Make sure that you have completed all of the steps above.

Following these steps will not ensure that a student/athlete will play college sports, but it will ensure them the opportunity to attend college. That is what is most important....SUNNYVALE RAIDERS GO TO COLLEGE!
